Our history

In 1995, after 15 years based in Hong Kong Fergus Anstock returned to his native London.

His experience included working as Group Legal Counsel for the Bank of East Asia, Managing Director of Bank of East Asia Trustees Limited and as a Director of Transatlantic Trust Limited. His wealth of knowledge and contacts allowed him to establish an international business consultancy which would form the basis of the Newhaven Group.

In 1997/98 the business acquired 50% of Mentor Trustees Limited in Guernsey and within six months acquired the remainder, rebranding the business as Newhaven Trust (Channel Islands) Limited. In 2000 the business established a licenced trustee company in Mauritius, which would become Newhaven Trust Company (Mauritius) Limited. In 2006 a book of Trust and Corporate Services business was acquired from CI Law in Jersey and redomiciled to Mauritius.

The business then expanded into the British Virgin Islands with the acquisitions of Caribbean Corporate Services Limited in 2008 and ATC Trustees Limited in 2009, giving the Newhaven Group a substantial presence in the British Virgin Islands.

The acquisitions brought a great deal of Asian business to the Newhaven portfolio; an asset that the Group was determined to grow. Accordingly in 2010/2011 the Group acquired the corporate services business of ATCP, one of the major players in the offshore corporate services arena in Hong Kong and in 2011 rebranded it as Newhaven (Hong Kong) Limited.

The Group went on to recruit senior established Hong Kong industry executives to broaden the business across Asia, including a range of services offered to target retail private client needs.

Our owl

Our insignia reflects intelligence, perspective, intuition, independence, wisdom, protection and power.

  • Native American tribes viewed the owl as a protector against harm and wore their feathers to fend off evil spirits.
  • Ancient Athenians made the owl an emblem of wisdom and used it on their coinage.
  • To the ancient Greeks, the owl was a symbol of Athene goddess of foresight and knowledge.
